The cinema of the United States has a history sometimes separated into four main periods: the silent film era, classical Hollywood cinema, New Hollywood, and the contemporary period (after 1980). Since the 1920s, the American film industry has grossed more money every year than that of any other country.

Jessica Marie Alba (born April 28, 1981) is an American television and film actress. She began her television and movie appearances at age 13 in Camp Nowhere and The Secret World of Alex Mack (1994). Alba rose to prominence as the lead actress in the television series Dark Angel (2000–2002). Alba later appeared in various films including Honey (2003), Sin City (2005), Fantastic Four (2005), Into the Blue (2005), Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Good Luck Chuck both in 2007.
Alba is considered a sex symbol and often generates media attention for her looks. She appears frequently on the "Hot 100" section of Maxim and was voted number one on AskMen. com's list of "99 Most Desirable Women" in 2006, as well as "Sexiest Woman in the World" by FHM in 2007. The use of her image on the cover of the March 2006 Playboy sparked a lawsuit by her, which was later dropped. She has also won various awards for her acting, including the Choice Actress Teen Choice Award and Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television, and a Golden Globe nomination for her lead role in the television series Dark Angel.
Hollywood Gossip.
Hollywood Gossip keeps the public entertained, but have you ever wondered how difficult it can be for the celebrity. Most celebrities are very understanding to the public and they try to keep us happy and entertained with the Hollywood Gossip, but sometimes even celebrities need their privacy. They take the time to film movies, record music and even make live appearances and Hollywood Gossip, just to please the public. However, the public wants to know what they are doing 24 hours 7 days a week.
Most of the time the only
Hollywood Gossip that appears on television concerns something bad that
has happened, or some mistake a celebrity has made. The public likes
to watch Hollywood Gossip and figures in the spotlight fall on their
face, because it brings them back down to earth with the rest of us.
Also it seems that we like to give air time to celebrities so they can
complain about the way the government is being run. Towards the beginning
of the war in Iraq, Densel Washington made a trip to a hospital in Fort
Sam Houston, Texas to see some of the injured soldiers. Densel told
the soldiers at the hospital that help would be on the way. We never
hear any Hollywood Gossip about this on the celebrity news channels.
The only time we heard about
this great act of generosity was in an email from someone else that
was trying to spread the good word. I think we would all feel a little
bit better about celebrities if the Hollywood Gossip shows would try
to report on more uplifting stories like this one. We can setup a large
Hollywood Gossip forum to let celebrities speak about how the war in
Iraq is wrong, but we can not take five minutes to tell the soldiers
that are fighting there how much we appreciate them for what they are
doing. I would like to help change the view about celebrities and write
about some Hollywood Gossip of a different flavor.
Hollywood and politics.
In the 1930s the Democrats and the Republicans saw money in Hollywood. President Franklin Roosevelt saw a huge partnership with Hollywood. He used the first real potential of Hollywood’s stars in a national campaign. Melvyn Douglas toured Washington in 1939 and met the key New Dealers. Endorsements letters from leading actors were signed, radio appearances and printed advertising were made. The use of a star was to draw a large audience into the political view of the party. By the 1960s John F. Kennedy and Frank Sinatra had a strong friendship in this glamour era when young Kennedy was a new face for Washington. The last moguls of Hollywood were gone and young new executives and producers began generating more liberal ideas. The celebrity and the money attracted the politicians into the high-class glittering Hollywood life-style. As Ronald Brownstein wrote in his book “The Power and the Glitter”, television in the 1970s and 1980s was an enormously important new media in politics and Hollywood helped in that media with actors making speeches on their political beliefs, like Jane Fonda against the Vietnam War. In this era we saw former actor Ronald Reagan became Governor of California and then President of the United States. It continued with Arnold Schwarzenegger as California’s Governor in 2003. Today Washington’s interest is in Hollywood donations. On February 20, 2007, for example, Barack Obama had a $2300-a-plate Hollywood gala, being hosted by David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg at the Beverly Hilton. Hollywood is a huge donator for presidential campaigns and this money attracts politicians. Not only is Hollywood influencing Washington with its glamour and money but Washington also influences Hollywood. See Jean-Michel Valantin's analysis in “Hollywood, le Pentagone et Washington”.
