Thus, in this novel the author use all future tenses, the Future Simple is the most common. It is used in many situations such as when making promises or predictions in the novel. Oscar Wilde used just few constructions of Future Perfect Continuous tense to emphasize how long an event will be in progress at a future time and represent a continuous action that stated at some point, and continues into some point in the future.
CONCLUSIONS
Having done our research work we came to the conclusion that. There are various means of expressing the idea of futurity in English; among them, future tense simple indicates only that the action takes place in the future, but it does not indicate if in the near future or later. Be going to future is used to express a future action close to the speaking moment or a future action which will take place because of a present intention. A future action planned at a present moment is usually expressed by the present tense continuous whereas a definite future action which will take place according to a schedule or a previous established program is expressed by the present simple tense There are four main tense forms which express future action: Future Simple, Future Continuous, Simple Future Perfect verb tense, Future Perfect Continuous Verb Tense. In our research wok we gave detailed information about each of these tenses that included the description of formation and the cases of the main usage of these tenses. Having read the novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde we investigated the peculiarities of the ways of expressing future action in this novel and found as many examples as possible to demonstrate the cases of the future action usage.
