"We need to provide more comfortable conditions for domestic and foreign companies for initial public offerings. According to the data I have, in the first eleven months of this year 14 companies have placed their shares in Russia, a figure that we can hardly be proud of. Of course, this is connected not only with legislation but also with our investment climate," he said, RIA Novosti reported.
President Medvedev
urged the Russian government on Wednesday to take systemic measures
to improve the country’s investment climate.
"We need to provide
more comfortable conditions for domestic and foreign companies for initial
public offerings. According to the data I have, in the first eleven
months of this year 14 companies have placed their shares in Russia,
a figure that we can hardly be proud of. Of course, this is connected
not only with legislation but also with our investment climate,"
he said, RIA Novosti reported.
Russian consumer rights
watchdog Rospotrebnadzor has charges Transaero airlines on 11 counts
for delaying flights and not providing sufficient information to passengers.
An administrative check
will be conducted on delays of flights to Tel-Aviv, Khurgada, Alma-Ata,
Riga, Berlin, Salzburg and Beijing, head of department Gennady Onishchenko
told RIA Novosti. “We will monitor the operations of this company
more closely,” Onishchenko added.
Onishchenko first announced that there were claims against Transaero on Dec. 29. After that chairman of the board Alexander Pleshakov said Transaero planned to sue Onishchenko for his statements and accusations of unprofessionalism.
Earlier representatives
of Transaero, Sibir, VIM-AVIA, Orenburgskiye Avialiny and Ut-air were
invited to the prosecutor’s office to explain the delays. Investigators
think these companies have perpetrated multiple violations of consumer
rights.
