In this essay I want to talk about the ten facts because of which stands positit New Zealand.
New Zealand - a mysterious country on the edge of the world, Australia's nearest neighbor is located 1,500 kilometers north-west.
Interestingly, that is located on two major islands (North Island and South Island) and about 700 smaller islands surrounding New Zealand exists in two time zones, and climate of this country varies from warm subtropical in the northern North Island, to cool temperate in the south and central regions of the South Island. Interestingly, because of the influence of the ocean is the difference of summer and winter temperatures in New Zealand is no more than 10 degrees.
Geography of New Zealand includes spectacular landscapes incorporating vast mountain chain of the Southern Alps (larger than the French, Austrian and Swiss Alps combined), the volcanoes of the North Island, fiords, glaciers, lakes, forests and vast grasslands.
Interestingly, the main character of New Zealand is its painstakingly saved and clean green image. In New Zealand there is no thermal power station, nuclear power plants, hydroelectric power only, operating without harming nature. There are no companies in the steel and chemical industries, and 25% of the area occupied by national parks and protected under the Territory.
It is interesting that for about 1000 years ago, before the appearance of permanent settlements on the islands of human history is completely absent from mammals, except bats, whales, sea lions and fur seals.
Interestingly, the national symbol of New Zealand - a kiwi, flightless "hairy" bird that carries the eggs in size almost from its own body.
The original name of New Zealand - Aotearoa or "Land of the Long White Cloud." In colloquial speech, New Zealand is also known as the "Shaky Isles" because of its geothermal activity and numerous earthquakes. The reason for this is that New Zealand is part of the so-called "Pacific Ring of Fire." The most active volcano - Mount Ruapehu in the central North Island.
The country's capital - the city of Wellington.
Interestingly, in a small Wellington (only 460 thousand people) the number of bars and restaurants per capita considerably exceeds the number of restaurants and bars in New York.
New Zealand's population is about 4.377 million people (2010) and a mixture of nationalities and cultures (75% Europeans, the indigenous Maori population - 15%, the remaining interest is accounted for on immigrants. Fiji and Samoa, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.). In New Zealand's two official languages - English and Maori. It is interesting that in no other country in the world of highly Aboriginal language is not recognized as a state.
The natives of Polynesia, the first to colonize deserted island in the 11-14 centuries. The first meeting of Maori and Europeans took place in 1642, when the ship was Dutch navigator Abel Tasman came to the shores of New Zealand, and in 1840 signed the Treaty of Waitangi, under which New Zealand became a British colony. The same document witnessed the respect and guarantee the rights of Maori living here since ancient times.
It is interesting that so far this treaty is in force and in employment the employer must verify the applicant an understanding of the provisions of Waitangi.
New Zealand gained its independence from Britain in 1907.
It is interesting that until 1901 New Zealand and Australia were one of the state.
It is interesting that New Zealand's first democratic countries in 1893 were set equal rights between women and men and women won the right to vote.
In New Zealand there is a place, a place name which consists of 85 letters - the longest name in the world - Taumata whakatangi hangakoauau o tamatea turi pukakapiki maunga horo nuku pokai whenua kitanatahu - which roughly translates as "hill, where Tamatea with big knees, conqueror of mountains , eater of land, a traveler on land and sea, played his koauau to his beloved. "
It is interesting that New Zealand's athletes have won more Olympic gold medals per capita than any other country. Favorite sport of New Zealand - rugby. National team All Blacks - won more than 73% of their matches over the years. And yet, it is New Zealanders invented bungy jumping.
Interestingly, in New Zealand a huge number of cars - 2.5 million to 4.3 million people.Only 2% of New Zealanders use the bus and 1% by train. Also interesting that the roads in New Zealand do not add salt, so the cars rust very slowly. Two-thirds of the total number of machines is under the age of 7 to 16 years. Every sixth car over 16 years. In 2005 New Zealand became the first country in the world, which was introduced a carbon tax (a tax on emissions of gases into the atmosphere)
Interestingly, according to statistics, every third inhabitant of the Earth believes New Zealand a better place to live and wants to go there!
Knowing all these facts about New Zealand, it is necessary to visit the country.
